A variety of walks, in the most beautiful of Worcestershire countryside, will help raise funds for rhe Midlands Air Ambulance in next month’s ‘Rock Pound the Bounds’ The annual charity walks, which take place on May 5, have re-established an ancient tradition of Beating the Bounds that used to be performed annually to remind locals of their parish boundary.

The updated version – ‘Rock Pound the Bounds’ – has introduced a range of walks so that everyone, whatever their walking ability, can participate. Experienced walkers can tackle the entire parish boundary of 25 miles, and there are walks of 18 miles, 12 miles, nine miles, six miles (guided and independent) plus a three-mile treasure trail for the youngsters.

There is superb hospitality, with marshalling stations carrying fresh drinking water, while two stations also provide hot drinks and homemade cakes.

The registration point, Rock Village Hall, also offers refreshments and bacon butties to give walkers a hearty start to the day.

Registration fee is £8 for the 25- and 18-mile walks, £6 for the 12, nine, six and guided walks or £3 for under-15s payable on the day. Registration and sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the website at poundthebounds.org.uk or visit midlandsairambulance.com
