VISITORS to Stourport Civic Hall will be rocking out in aid of a local children’s charity later this month.

Monsters of Rock is a live music event packed full of entertainment which will raise money for Mentor Link – a charity which mentors children who need one to one support for social and emotional difficulties.

Taking place on Saturday, November 29, the gig will see six bands step up to the mic throughout the evening, starting at 6.30pm with 15-year-old Kidderminster singer-songwriter Ellisha Green.

Two other local bands will play an hour’s set each before cover-band Løpht, who have been off the scene for a few years before re-uniting for this show, will perform covers of Green Day, Muse and Nirvana.

The penultimate performance will come from Identity Crisis who have been playing classic and contemporary rock for more than 10 years, covering legends including Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys and even Enrique Inglesias.

Headlining the gig will be Foo Fighters tribute act Food Fighterz.

The band’s live showings include all the Foo Fighter classics from the first album right up to the current award-winning album, Wasting Light.

Organisers promise the evening is not to be missed, with dignitaries including Mayor of Stourport, Cliff Brewer, joining former mayors in attending to help support a local charity which requires much needed funds.

Andrea Maddocks, Mentor Link founder and CEO, said: “We have seen a significant increase in referrals this year for young people who have faced the sudden and traumatic death of a parent.

“We urgently need extra funding to train and support our volunteers to help the children and young people.”

Tickets, costing £8, can be bought from Mentor Link's charity shop in Stourport High Street and Worley's Strings and Things in York Street.

Online purchases can be made at ticketsource.co.uk/date/106804, while buying tickets on the door costs £10.
