MITTON WI: At their monthly meeting, held on January 19, members welcomed Tina Hobin ‘The mother of the belly dance’ who gave a demonstration of her art and provided a history of her career and the ancient dance form. Tina has been teaching belly dancing for 42 years and has been seen on popular tv programmes, even receiving two Blue Peter badges. Members were keen to hear about the health benefits of belly dancing which include improving co-ordination and balance, muscle tone and easing back pain. Many ladies took part in the demonstration and practised their moves wearing an array of beautiful, colourful clothing. It was an enjoyable evening and a great start to the 2017 programme.

The WI meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30pm in the St Michael's and All Angels Church Hall, Stourport on Severn and new members and visitors are always welcome. To find out more visit the Facebook page 'Thoroughly Modern Mitton WI' or email mittonwi@outlook.com.
