STOURPORT FLORAL ART CLUB: A special evening was held on July 31at the Stourport Sports Hall to celebrate the life of Joy Cook, who had been a long time club member and had died unexpectedly in September. She had been a superb flower arranger both at the club and Areley Kings Church.

Joys family came and were welcomed by chairman Joan Kinsella

The demonstrator was popular Sandra Snell .who had been a few times before and brought a multitude of exquisite flowers and foliage

Before introducing Sandra Joan welcomed Rachele and Michelle from the Millbrook Suite at Kidderminster Hospital to accept a cheque for their social fund that was for the benefit of patients having cancer treatment. They said contributions such as this were vital to provide some comfort to the patients.

Joan then introduced Sandra to the audience who began her demonstration and told of the pleasure she had had of the many years of visiting Stourport with their boat and touring the town..

The first of many beautiful arrangements was of dark red roses and lovely foliage set into a boat shaped container

Wonderful Roses, Gerbera, Extremely large and beautiful hydrangeas and colourful small ones, Arrangements of blue and white, Pyramid of golden roses and a bowl of various pink and unusual flowers were placed along the tables to be studied by members after the raffle had been called and the lucky winners collected them to take home

Sandra had congratulated the members competition entries and Andrew Lloyd

had the unenviable position of judging them. They were all in the European style, which had been Joys favourite.

The next club meeting is on September 25 when the demonstrator is Sharon Badger with “In a Dream World” and members competition is “Autumnal Inspirations”

Meetings are held at the Elizabeth Mills Centre New Street 7.30pm doors open 6.30pm.
