8:49am Wednesday 29th February 2012

A LARGE amount of cash belonging to a Stourport shop has been stolen after being taken from a member of staff who was leaving work.

The incident happened in an alleyway off Minster Road just after 10pm on Friday last week.

A member of staff from CNA News, on Minster Road, was leaving for the day when he was dragged into the nearby alley by two men who stole the shop’s takings from him.

The offenders then ran back out into Minster Road before running away from the scene.

One of them is white, in his late teens and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a light coloured hat with a peak on it, black hooded rain jacket, dark grey tracksuit bottoms and a black scarf covering his face.

The second man is described as slim and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a black beanie hat, black raincoat and also had a black scarf around his face.

Detective constable Iain Standing, of Kidderminster CID, said: "I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery and saw two men acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the alleyway near the shop to get in touch.

"The offenders ran off in the opposite direction of the town centre and then turned right into Prospect Road.

“I would appeal to anyone who possibly saw them take that route away from the scene to also contact us."

Anyone with information should call DC Standing on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 831-S-240212 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
