Brigette Manton, from Clifton –on Teme gave a beautiful demonstration of countryside life to the audience on March 31.

Her title “Come walk with me” began with a nostalgic phone box containing fatsia, dark red roses, gerbera and Hebe.

A window box of springtime flowers in a tray surrounded by dogwood stems held pussy willow, anthuriams, iris, tulips and mini daffodils.

A tree trunk made by Brigette from bark wrapped around a piece of piping was surrounded by willow, rubus laurel, ferns green chrysanths and tulips.

A metal curved structure was topped with ruscus, red and pink gerbera and gorgeous lilies.

This was to honour the fishermen along the riverside and a model completed the design by sitting with his fishing rod.

A large glass bowl had a top decorated with looped aspidestra leaves with anthuriums, carnations. Gypsophila, and silk squares.

When it was completed Brigette switched on a multitude of tiny lights in the centre of the bowl.

The final demonstration was a tribute to the Shelsey Walsh car racing with a tyre mounted on a plinth and topped by a design of ruscus, ivy, tulips, roses and gerbera. To complete the arrangement two winning flags were fitted into the back.

Joan Southerton gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the audience and Brigette congratulated the members who had entered the competition on their lovely springtime arrangements The arrangements were raffled and before the stage was emptied by the lucky winners members took a closer inspection.
