STOURPORT Carnival organisers are looking for marching bands, floats and traders to take part in this year’s parade.
The carnival takes place on Saturday, September 6 and a plea has been made for marching bands to apply to lead the floats as they parade through the streets of the town.
There are also a few spots open for businesses, clubs and groups to enter floats or trading stalls.
The royal court will also be taking part in the parade, featuring this year’s carnival queen Mary Newman, princess Halle Griffiths and rosebud Darcie Holmes, on a decorated float.
It costs £10 per float to enter and the prize for the best float is £150, with £50 prizes available for each category.
Organisers are adding something new to this year’s event by appealing to local golf clubs or caravan clubs to enter decorated golf buggies in the parade.
Also new to the carnival will be a fly past from a local microlight club, which will be taking to the skies in the afternoon.
To enter a band, float or trading stall in the carnival, contact committee chairman, Pete Roberts, on 01299 879340.
No catering stalls are needed.
