A FUNDRAISER with a stomach-stretching twist will see twelve participants compete in an epic eating competition.

The Man versus Food event, which will take place in the field next to Playland Fun Park in Stourport on Saturday, August 30 from 2pm to 6pm, has been planned by the family and friends of Josh Jones, the teenager who died in a tragic accident in May.

Sponsorship money raised by the contestants will be donated to Josh’s Prayers, the organisation set up in his memory to support other bereaved families throughout Wyre Forest.

Stephanie Jones, Josh’s mother, said: “It will be a really fun event with twists, turns and surprise elements that will make the challenge even harder for the competitors and even funnier to watch for the crowds.

“It is definitely something Josh would have found hilarious and I’m sure he’d have loved to watch or take part.

“We want to encourage everybody to come down and support us and the guys competing.

“If lots of people attend and we raise a good total it will mean the world to us because we know then we will be able to help others.

“The more money we raise the more families we can support.”

Bradley Owen, one of Josh’s best friends, is competing in the challenge alongside Scott Biddle, Aaron Nunn and nine other entrants, and hopes to be crowned the champion eater.

He said: “There is definitely a fear factor involved and I am little nervous, but I am going to do my best because it is all for a good cause.”

The event will also include a DJ, raffles and fundraising stalls. It is free to attend but donations are welcome.
