A STOURPORT dad who died from a brain tumour will once more be honoured in an annual running event organised by his family.

Danny Horton died, aged 36, from a brain tumour four years ago.

But his memory lives on in "Danny's Dash" - a gruelling eight-mile, multi terrain running race.

This year's event will be held on October 12 at Coney Green Farm, Ribbesford Road, Stourport, starting at 10.30am.

Mr Horton was a former naval seaman and proceeds of "Danny's Dash" will be shared by the Help for Heroes charity and Brain Tumour Research.

It will add to the £4,000 already raised over the last three years by Mr Horton's runners, friends and family.

In the past, runners have been treated to an ice cream at the end of the face - but this time they will receive a pie and bottle of ale as they cross the finishing line.

Prizes will be presented by Kidderminster Harriers' legend Paul "Ocker" Davies, who will also compete in the race for the first time.

Mr Davies was Mr Horton's favourite Harriers' player - and the tragic father used to be nicknamed "Ocker" himself.

Mr Horton's daughter, Hannah, then aged 15, persuaded Mr Davies to get involved with the fund-raising when she wrote him a letter in 2012.
