WYRE Forest residents are receiving support from Worcestershire County Council to get online as it hosts free sessions to help people make the internet work for them.

As part of the eighth national Get Online Week, Kidderminster Library and Wyre Forest Community Housing in Stourport have events to inspire local people to do more with digital skills.

Both venues will provide free access as well as staff and volunteer support, while Kidderminster Library will also host workshops which introduce users to social media, scanning, attaching documents, downloading e-books, emailing and surfing the web safely.

Worcestershire County Councillor Marcus Hart, chairman of the health and well-being board, said: “We are really hoping that anyone who isn't confident about using the internet will take advantage of the sessions that are running during Get Online Week.”

The event at Wyre Forest Community Housing in Stourport take place on Thursday between 11am and 2pm, while Kidderminster Library is running sessions throughout the week.

The library's sessions include Introducing E-magazines – Tuesday 1pm until 2pm, Digital Fun with Tablets – Wednesday 10.30am until 11.30am, Help Getting Online – Thursday 10am until 1pm, Twitter Workshop – Friday 10am until 11am and Digital Fun for Families – Friday 10.30am until 11.30am.
