A CHARITY concert at Kidderminster Town Hall raised just short of £1,800 for multiple local causes.

The Your Music Charity Concert featured performances from Kidderminster Valentines, Stourport Brass Band, Holy Trinity School Choir, Kidderminster Music Centre Senior String Ensemble and BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014 competitor Jude Wynter.

Money raised during the evening of entertainment will be donated to three charities – Kemp Hospice, The League of Friends of Kidderminster Hospital and Cancer Research UK.

Sue Strong, who organised the concert with her husband, said: “We were able to raise a lot of money for great causes.

“It was really unexpected. Money is tight in these times and people don’t have it to give it away. So to be able to raise what we have done is great.

“The evening itself was absolutely fabulous. Incredible.

“All the performers were very different from each other and each was appreciated in their own right.”

As well as individual performances from each of the acts, the night also features a collection of well-known communal war tunes, concluding with a rendition of Jerusalem, complete with patriotic flags adding to the atmosphere.

Mrs Strong added: “Stourport Brass Band did its own 25 minute slot but they also played for all the communal songs and each one was lovely.

“Quite a few people came up to us to say how brilliant the whole night was and that the performers were incredible. It was a magical evening.”
