PUPILS at a Stourport school left their parents with “tears in their eyes” after putting on their annual Christmas nativity play.

The reception class at Stourport Primary School, known as Rainbow, got onto the stage in front of their parents as well as the rest of the school.

They acted, sang and danced their way through this year’s production of The Sleepy Shepherd, where five-year-old Luke Pender starred as the narrator.

Gareth Owen, school governor, said: “Proud parents had tears in their eyes as they watched their children perform in their first play at school.

“Luckily, the very sleepy shepherd managed to stay awake long enough to find his way to Bethlehem by following the bright star.

”Mrs Yarranton and Miss Wilkins, the reception class teachers, could not have been happier with the final production.”
