MITTON WI: At the first monthly meeting of 2016 held on January 21, WI members and visitors enjoyed a talk from Carole Carlton of Mrs Darley's Herbal based in Bewdley Museum. Carole provided an informative and interesting talk on the history of tea; from the Japanese tea ceremony to it becoming a drink of the nobility and a cure for all ills. Members particularly liked the idea of the elegant tea gowns worn for afternoon tea and how a nice cup of tea had become a British institution. There was an opportunity to sniff black leafed, oolang and whole leaf teas and the positive health benefits were an added incentive to enjoy a cup of tea at refreshment time.

The WI meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30pm in the St Michaels and All Angels Church Hall, Stourport on Severn and new members are always welcome. To find out more visit the Facebook page 'Thoroughly Modern Mitton WI' or email mittonwi@outlook.com

The next meeting will be on February 18 when the group will receive a fascinating talk on Training Guide Dogs for the Blind and we hope there will be a very special guest .
