DRIVERS face a month of disruption as a road is closed to enable Severn Trent to install a new pipe.

A diversion will operate when Trimpley Lane, Shatterford,  is closed from Thursday, as the £25,000 works get under way.

Severn Trent bosses say the work is necessary to secure water supplies.

The company's Gareth Mead said: “We want to make sure that our customers continue to receive a reliable water supply. Unfortunately, one of the water pipes from our Trimpley water treatment works has grown old and it’s now prone to bursts.

"To help prevent any problems in the future, we’re investing £25,000 to install a new, more reliable water pipe. We’re also removing a booster pumping station, which is no longer needed, due to other work we’ve been doing on our network.

“We’ll be starting work on Thursday and, unfortunately, we’ll need to close Trimpley Lane - off the A442 near Kidderminster - for us to carry out the work safely. The road will need to be closed for four weeks and a diversion route will be in place through Low Habberley.

“We need to carry out this important work so that our customers living in and around the area can continue to receive a high-quality drinking water supply.

"We’ll do all we can to help minimise disruption and we’d like to ask the local community to bear with until the new pipes are in place. We won’t be there for long but the benefits will be.”
