A GREAT-grandmother celebrated receiving her second card from the Queen for her 105th birthday.

Florence Reeve, formally of Wolverley, was born on Valentines’ Day in 1908 and shares her birthday with her youngest great-grandaugther two-year-old Yuzuna.

Mrs Reeve celebrated the event last Thursday with her family, staff and residents at Breach House Care Home in Belbroughton where she has lived for eight years.

Her card from the Queen, which are sent to people who reach the age of 100, 105 and then every year after that, proved popular.

Mrs Reeve was born in Coventry and is the last survivor of five children.

She has three children, Carole, John and Susan, two grandsons, one grandaughter, two step-daughters and three great-grandaughters.

Her daughter Carole Swingler, of Bewdley, believes her mother’s longevity is due to her determination, her strong constitution and her love of porridge and sweet tea.

Mrs Reeve lived through the Coventry Blitz with her late husband, Philip, which her daughter thinks gave her strength of will and body.

Mrs Swingler added: “She is, understandably, more tired than she used to be but still enjoys life and loves company.”

The party included balloons to mark both Mrs Reeve’s birthday and Valentines Day.

At 105, she is the oldest resident at the home.
