The centre’s AGM took place at Blakedown Parish Rooms on February 11. President David Brown, chaired the meeting. He welcomed those present, a good attendance despite the miserable weather.

The centre had a good year, and the brilliant sum of £7000 had been donated to several National Trust properties and projects.

David Brown paid tribute to the marvellous works undertaken by the committee, much appreciated by members.

Chairman Chris Fonteyn presented his annual report which included a review of the year. Once again, it had been a real team effort.

He referred to the success of the day outings, the Scottish holiday and the indoor meetings where the high standard of speakers had been maintained and a wide range of topics were covered. A membership drive was going ahead and he encouraged all members to spread the word. The centre celebrates its 30th birthday in 2014 and he was confident it would be another enjoyable and rewarding year with a positive growth in membership.

Alan Beaumont, Treasurer, presented the audited accounts. The financial statement showed a very satisfactory state of affairs. He recalled that in September 1983, a loan of £150 had been granted by the National Trust to set up the centre. This had been repaid in March 1985 when there was a surplus of over £647.

The surplus accumulated at the end of 2013 was £8020, after making donations of £7000. Since the centre was founded in 1984, total donations now amount to £114,475. The subscription rate and charge at meetings, remain unchanged.

All the present officers and members of the committee were duly re-elected. A new constitution for the centre was adopted and approved by members.

Philippa Slade, property administrator at Hanbury Hall, gave an update on developments at the North Worcestershire properties.
