A WORCESTERSHIRE service which includes environmental health, licensing and trading standards has found a new home as it moves to Wyre Forest House.

The Worcestershire Shared Services Joint Committee decided Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS), which is shared between the six district councils within the county, will move to its new Finepoint Way location.

WRS has been searching for a new office location due to the lease on its present offices in Worcester coming to an end.

The Joint Committee considered two viable proposals and as part of the move, Wyre Forest District Council will also be providing a full ICT support package for WRS.

Councillor Mark Bullivant, chairman of the Joint Committee, said: “Wyre Forest District Council submitted a very strong proposal which offered modern and flexible office accommodation, with a good range of supporting facilities including a café and meeting rooms, and a fully hosted service for information technology and communications.

“The Joint Committee was impressed by the bid and agreed it unanimously.”

District councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of the council, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Wyre Forest House will be the new home for Worcestershire Regulatory Services.

“The council’s staff had put together a compelling and comprehensive bid.

“The income that the council will generate from rent and the ICT support is an excellent example of how we are adopting a commercial approach. Increasing income in this way helps to fund the essential services which local community’s value.

“We are looking forward to welcoming WRS colleagues to Wyre Forest House in the spring.”

Steve Jorden, head of regulatory services, said: “We are looking forward to moving to our new accommodation and getting to know our colleagues better at Wyre Forest District Council.”

The move is planned to take effect by the beginning of April 2015.
