A POPULAR poetry and music event in Kidderminster will be celebrating its third birthday at this month’s meeting.
Mouth and Music nights have been running at the Boars Head, in Worcester Street, each month for the past three years, and to celebrate its anniversary, organisers are handing their latest event over to performers who have made regular appearances.
In this month's Spark Off! evening, two teams will be pitting their wits against each other to see who can perform the best piece and be the most entertaining in a subject chosen by the MC.
Leading the teams on Tuesday, January 13, will be poet Nina Lewis, renowned for her “hilarious” poem about moustaches, and singer Peter Williams whose sad song about his jumper is an event favourite.
Organisers Heather Wastie and Sarah Tamar will be competing on opposite teams, overseen by the MC, who this month is singer and poet The Humdrum Express who has been described as “a mix of wit, social commentary, bandy legs and glasses”.
Visitors wanting to join in with the event can sign up from 7pm, while the entertainment begins at 7.30pm.
