The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 12, starting at 2pm, in the Corn Exchange at Kidderminster Town Hall. Gay Hill will give a talk “Twenty things you never knew about Rowland Hill”. Gay, a professional historian as well as being the research and publicity officer of the group, explained further “ Sir Rowland Hill, whose statue stands outside Kidderminster Town Hall, is known as the founder of the Penny Postage, which started in May 1840.

I wanted to find out what made Rowland Hill tick so to mark the 175th anniversary of the Penny Postage I will be talking about Rowland Hill the man and his somewhat revolutionary family, revolutionary in more ways than one. One fact many people will be unaware of is that there were more than one famous Rowland Hill, including Rowland Hill, Mayor of Kidderminster in 1907.”

All are welcome to attend, there is a small entry fee which includes refreshments.

For further information telephone Gay on 01562-746370.
