A NEW headteacher has been appointed at Wolverley CE Secondary School following the departure of Richard North after five years in the job.

Bryn Thomas, who is currently deputy headteacher at Wheelers Lane Technology College in Birmingham, will be replacing Mr North who left the school at the end of last year.

Mr North left the school and moved out of the area for a "lifestyle change".

Mr Thomas said: "I am delighted to be joining Wolverley CE Secondary School and look forward to working with the staff and students.

"This is an exciting time to be joining the school and I believe that the unique rural setting, strong Christian ethos, ambition of the students and the school’s high expectations are key to its future success."

The new appointment comes as the school is celebrating after seeing an increase in the number of students achieving between three and five A and A* grades in their GCSEs.

The school has also recently developed a new Ambition Unlimited programme, which will see the school encouraging students to strive for bigger and better things in their future.

David Baldwin, chairman of governors at Wolverley CE Secondary School, said: "The recent results show that the school is giving students a broad and balanced traditional curriculum and we are thrilled with the progress.

"Mr Thomas is joining Wolverley School at an exciting time and we look forward to seeing the positive change that he will bring."
