‘The natural history of Christmas’ – the title of his latest book – was the topic for speaker Michael Leach at the November meeting at Blakedown parish Rooms.

Michael was a freelance cameraman with the BBC for several years and has worked with David Attenborough and David Bellamy.

He is a zoologist and author and his 27th book has just been published.

Michael’s talk covered a number of Christmas traditions and helped set the scene for the forthcoming festive season.

Greenery such as holly and ivy is brought into homes as a sign that the sun will return. Mistletoe drives away evil spirits amd has links to the Druids and Anglesey.
