SEVERAL public run services across Wyre Forest will be disrupted tomorrow due to industrial action over pay and working conditions.

National union strikes involving teachers, firefighters and council workers will cause vital services to be affected.

According to the Worcestershire County Council website all schools in the region will be open to students except:

Bayton CE Primary School, which will be completely closed to all pupils.

Burlish Park Primary School’s nursery and reception classes, class 1C and the language unit are closed to pupils. All other pupils should be in school.

Offmore Primary School’s class 1DH will be the only class closed.

Firefighters who are members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will be on strike between 10am and 7pm in their long running dispute with the Government over changes to their pensions.

Firefighters who are not members of the FBU should not be taking part in the strike action and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service say they have plans in place to still provide a service.

The fire service will still be responding to 999 calls, but has asked members of the public to take extra steps to reduce the risk of a fire breaking out in their home.

Council services which will be affected by the strikes include libraries with Stourport Library the only one confirmed to be closed.

Wyre Forest District Council said bin collections will not be affected.

The Shuttle will keep you updated if any further disruption is caused.
