LOVEABLE children's characters the Wombles will be moving from Wimbledon Common to help tidy up Wyre Forest.

During the October Big Tidy Up campaign, the Wyre Forest Wombles will be out and about carrying out litter picks in the area, including an afternoon with students at St Anne’s Primary School.

The campaign, which kicks off tomorrow, is hoping Wyre Forest residents will join with the Wombles to help clean up the district.

Wyre Forest District Councillor Helen Dyke, cabinet member for operational services, said: “We’re hoping lots of people will get into the spirit of the Big Tidy Up campaign this autumn.

“We’re pleased to have the help of Wyre Forest Wombles who will be popping up in all sorts of places across the district – so look out for them on the litter picks or in the parks, nature reserves and on the High Street.

“This extra big effort is all part of our work to keep the place clean and tidy for residents, visitors and businesses.”

The Big Tidy Up dates are on Wednesday, October 8, 10.30am untill 12.30pm at Queenswat Estate, Bewdley, Thursday, October 9, 10.30am start at Walshes and the Barnfield Nature Reserve, Saturday, October 11, 9 - 1 at The Dowles Road Community Centre, Tuesday, October 14, 3.30 - 4.30 at St Bartholomew Primary School, Stourport, Wednesday, October 15, 10.30 - 12.30, Lorne Street, Kidderminster, Wednesday, October 22, 1.30 – 3.00 at St Anne’s Primary School, Saturday, October 25, 10.30am start at Springfield Park, and Wednesday, October 29, 10.30 - 12.30 at Lea Street, Kidderminster.
