MORE than 19,000 potholes have been repaired across Worcestershire this year after the County Council was awarded £3.3 million from the Government.

The money was awarded to the council from the Department of Transport’s National Pothole Fund to be spent on either permanently fixing potholes or preventing them from forming in the first place.

Worcestershire County Council received a larger amount of funding than many other areas across the country because of its “ongoing success” in repairing the county’s roads.

However, to continue the pothole being filled, the council is encouraging local residents to keep reporting the dangerous drops near them.

County councillor John Smith, cabinet member for environment, said: “We continue to respond quickly to reports of potholes and would encourage residents and motorists to let us know about any problems.

“We have been successful in our bid for funding which needs to be spent by the end of March 2015, so I would urge anyone who sees any potholes to visit the website and fill out the online form.”

A tutorial video has also been uploaded to YouTube providing residents with a step-by-step guide of how to report a pothole.
