WORCESTERSHIRE County Council will be counting the pennies as next year’s budget is the latest council issue to be scrutinised.

A group of county councillors, led by Councillor Richard Udall, will be scrutinising the cabinet's plans to deliver savings to meet the Government funding reductions and are keen to hear what residents think of them.

Councillors said they will talk to senior officers and partners to find out about the plans and to make sure they are the right ones for Worcestershire residents.

Mr Udall said: “It’s important and vital that we look carefully at the cabinet proposals for next year’s budget. Our job is to comment, challenge and question the proposals.

“These are difficult and challenging times for the council – many parts of our service provision will be affected and many Worcestershire people will notice the changes.

“We want to hear from anybody who wants to make a contribution to our work and to help us to scrutinise the proposals.”

The council has set up a series of Have Your Say roadshows to allow residents and businesses the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the council's plans for the future.
