NHS workers throughout Wyre Forest will once again be taking industrial action after eleven trade unions agreed to a second four-hour strike over pay issues.

A range of hospital workers including nurses, midwives, cleaners, porters, secretaries and paramedics will stage the stoppage during the morning of Monday, November 24.

Ravi Subramanian, Unison’s West Midlands regional secretary, said: “The next set of industrial action will be even stronger as more unions are joining in.

“Health workers care for patients and their families every day of the year often when they are at their most vulnerable or distressed.

“The NHS depends on the goodwill and commitment of the workforce and this is now at breaking point.

“Staff have been left with no alternative but to take more industrial action. All we are asking for is fair pay.”

The pay which is currently being offered to the workers is a 1 per cent unconsolidated increase for 2014 and a further 1 per cent unconsolidated offer in 2015 for those eligible.

Unions taking part in the action are Unison, Royal College of Midwives, Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians, Society of Radiographers, British Association of Occupational Therapists, GMB, Unite, Managers in Partnership, Prison Officers Association, Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association and British Dietetic Association.

The Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association and British Dietetic Association will be staging a week of action, short of a strike, between Tuesday, November 25 and Sunday, November 30.
