SCHOOLCHILDREN from across Wyre Forest joined together at Wilden All Saints School recently to take part in an “inspiring” workshop lead by author Colin Parsons.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Wilden, Burlish Park, Astley, Great Whitley and Franche Community primary schools were part of the First World War themed workshop.

The workshop, organised by Wilden’s literacy leader, Miss Poole, aimed to develop the children’s writing skills.

Headteacher Francesca Fishwick said: “The opportunity for children to meet and make friends with enthusiastic writers from other local primary schools has been a memorable and invaluable learning experience in itself in addition to being able to pick up tips from a real published author.”

Colin has written and published a number of children’s books and spends much of his time travelling around the country inspiring the next generation of writers.

He said: “The children’s enthusiasm was overwhelming.

"I definitely enjoyed it as much as they did.”
