SURGERIES offering advice on the best ways to keep homes as energy efficient as possible are being held by Wyre Forest District Council.

Act on Energy aims to provide tips on heating, insulation grants and preventing dampness.

The first of a collection of free drop-in surgeries, which are all being held at Kidderminster Town Hall, takes place on Thursday, January 15, between 10am and 1pm.

Further surgeries, which do not need to be booked, will be held on Thursday 12 February and Thursday 12 March.

The sessions coincide with the launch of the Green Home Show event, where the latest gadgets to help live green and save money will be on display at the town hall.

Green ideas and inventions will be on offer on Saturday, January 24, between 11am and 3pm, including solar panelling technology, all-electric cars and the latest heating technology.

Wyre Forest District Councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for community, health and well-being, said: “This is a great initiative to start making changes and savings in 2015 which will help the environment.

“There are some exciting new innovative inventions which offer realistic solutions to the ever growing demands of climate change.”

Visitors will be able to learn about the cost and environmental benefits of electric motoring with the new Mitsubishi Outlander Plug in Hybrid and Nissan Leaf both on show.

Also on display at the event will be inventions to help heat rooms using mobile phones, laptops and tablets.
