This months talk, “WW1 Discover History,” showed just how unprepared this country was on the home front for the Great War. With no national blackout precautions or air raid shelters built the population was vulnerable to air attack from planes and Zeppelins. Food rationing was voluntary until the autumn of 1918. It was recommended Worcester Sauce be mixed with jam as a substitute for the hard to get chutney.

The next meeting, on May 21, is the annual AGM. The meeting will start with a talk by Brian Draper entitled “River Severn- What is a river?Remember to bring your old plastic bottle tops for recycling.
