NATIONAL TRUST: The speaker at the centre's April meeting held at Hagley Community Centre was Gareth Williams. He is the curator and head of learning at Weston Park and was making this third visit to our centre.
Gareth Williams reminded us that it is the tercentenary of the birth of Capability Brown. He needs little introduction and the landscapes that he made are timeless. Over 250 sites in England and Wales are associated with Capability Brown. Storms and the passage of time have taken their toll of Brown's work, but his legacy is still clear to see. Gareth took his audience on an illustrated tour of several properties where the work of Capability Brown can be seen including Longleat, Trentham Gardens, Chillington Hall, Blenheim Palace and Weston Park.
Details of the activities of this local group of National Trust members can be obtained from the centre's membership secretary Roy Fox on 01562 886728.
