A POPULAR charity fundraiser has been named as the victim of a horrific car crash in Oldbury.

Adam Hancox, aged 26, died after a VW Passat crashed into his Ford Ka on Wolverhampton Road at the junction of Bleakhouse Road on Sunday at 9.20am.

Adam's family today released a picture of him and led the tributes.

A family spokesman said: “Adam was a much loved son and brother, taken away from us too soon.

"We will miss him greatly. Words cannot express our loss.”

The driver of the VW Passat Kasim Mohammed, aged 26, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and was due to appear at Warley Magistrates Court today (Thursday).

Sergeant Neil Higgins, from the force’s collision investigation unit continues to appeal for witnesses to the collision. He said: "Despite the best efforts of passers-by, police officers and medics, nothing could be done to save Adam.

“Anyone who saw the collision who has not yet come forward is asked to call us on 101.”

Adam's best friend Jack Hughes penned a touching tribute to the fun-loving fundraiser who he had scaled Ben Nevis as part of the Three Peaks Challenge last month.

He said: "I lost my best friend. The person who's been my best friend since junior school.

"He was the person who would text me before I get to work every morning just to ask how I am, and the last person to text me every night."

He said: "The love I have for that man is like no other. He's like a brother to me.

"We have been inseparable for the past 15 years and the thought of not seeing him again is absolutely destroying me inside, but I know I have to do something about it."

Mr Hughes has vowed to complete Three Peaks Challenge in memory of his friend and a Just Giving page has been flooded with donations, with over £1,800 pledged for Society of Parents of Children with Cancer.

He said: "He went on to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, I floundered and quit after two, much to his disgust.

"But I've sworn I will finish the thing, just so I can say I completed it with him."
