A WORDSLEY motorcyclist involved in a fatal collision was travelling at "high speed", an inquest heard.

Ashley Thomas Reece Silvester, died on July 9 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, as a result of his injuries.

An inquest at Smethwick Coroners Court, heard that the 20-year-old had been riding along New Street on July 5 when he collided with a silver BMW at the junction of Manor Road.

Senior coroner Zafar Saddique said the driver of the BMW had an "obstructed view" due to cars being parked on both sides of the road.

He said CCTV footage indicated Mr Silvester was travelling at "high speed" and had collided with the car as it pulled slowly out of the junction to turn right onto New Street.

Because of his speed, Mr Saddique said Mr Silvester had "no time to react" and hit the front of the car.

He was thrown from his motorcycle and into a stationary Volkswagen and his bike collided with a garden wall.

Mr Saddique offered his condolences to Mr Silvester's family and concluded he had died because of the multiple injuries sustained in the collision.
