BUDDING designers put pen to paper to come up with a new Christmas card for Wychavon District Council.

More than 70 children entered the competition but the winner was names at nine-year-old Poppy Colledge from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Broadway.

Charlotte Spyer, from Sytchampton First School came second and third place went to Rhianna Dunn, also from Sytchampton First School.

Back in November, councillor Lynne Duffy, chairman of Wychavon District Council invited local first schools to take part in her Christmas card competition.

The competition is an annual event where children can put forward their designs with the winning design used as the official Wychavon Christmas card.

The competition was open to children aged four to ten-years-old and they were asked to design the electronic Christmas card sent out with festive greetings from the council to various organisations across the country.

Cllr Duffy said: "I would like to thank all of the children who entered the competition. I had a great afternoon looking at all of the cards and it was extremely difficult to pick the winners. Congratulations to Poppy, Charlotte and Rhianna for their winning designs and well done to all who entered."

All the winners were presented with a WH Smith gift voucher at their school this week by Cllr Duffy.
