NOMINATIONS are wanted for this year's City of Worcester Sport Awards.

People are urged to put forward any individuals or teams who have shown great dedication or excelled in sport over the last year.

Former international athlete, world record holder and Olympic medallist Steve Cram will be presenting trophies to winners and nominees at the awards ceremony September at The University of Worcester Arena.

The awards are jointly organised by Worcester City Council and Sport Worcester.

Hannah Cox, sport, art and play development manager, said: "A huge amount of sporting talent is prevalent in Worcester, across a wide range of disciplines.

"The City of Worcester Sport Awards are an opportunity to celebrate this collective talent – and to put the spotlight on Worcester’s growing reputation as a premiere sporting city."

The winners will automatically be nominated for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Sports Partnership Awards.

The winner of the unsung hero award at county level will have the opportunity to progress up to the national BBC Sport Personality of the Year Awards.

Nominations can be made online at sportworcester.org.uk or by calling Jo Cale on 01905 722 331.
