A WORCESTERSHIRE man is fulfilling a dream and competing in the Virgin Money London Marathon next week.

Kevin Trapp, 48, of Pershore, will take on the 26.2-mile iconic course in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

He said: “It is a great cause and I want to try and raise as much money as possible.

“I have been trying to get a place on the marathon for several years and now I’m really looking forward to it.

“My training is going really well.”

He does not have a particular personal connection to the British Heart Foundation but recognises its work as life-saving.

“Today, heart surgery is one of the most common forms of surgery”, added Mr Trapp.

“Blood pressure, angina and high cholesterol can all be controlled and treatments such as bypass surgery, angioplasty, pacemakers, heart valve replacement and even heart transplants are now commonplace.

“Forty-five years ago this kind of treatment would have seemed unachievable if it wasn’t for the continual support of the British Heart Foundation and other charities.”
