THE free 55+ and Retirement Roadshow will return to Kidderminster Town Hall in June.

The roadshow, on Saturday, June 13, will bring together a wide range of local advisors and experts on retirement finance, ageing and health to give free consultations to older residents.

Wyre Forest MP, Mark Garnier, has recommended the event to residents over the age of 55 and carers in the area.

The non-profit National Careline, who run the event, will bring specialists on tax advice for older people, solicitors to advise on Government changes and wealth management specialists.

Additionally, for the first time, local pharmacies will be represented. This will supplement the other health and wellbeing experts who offer advice on keeping fit, getting meals delivered and home adaptions, among other areas.

Organiser Barbara Davies said there has been so much interest from local and national organisations wanting to have stands and exhibits at the show it will be overflowing.

She said: “The over 55s lead very busy and diverse lives.

"Some are looking after relatives at home - either their children who haven't left home or elderly relatives - some have relatives in a home, while others will be living an active retirement.

“Some will be facing redundancy while others will even be thinking of branching out into a new career.

“I cannot stress how important it is that people know they have choice and more control than they think they have and also that people can have a care/financial package that fits their individual needs."

She said the exhibitors can help with issues like adaptations to enable someone to say at home; keeping fit, improving balance and falls prevention; making sure a relative at home is taking correct medication; tax and income issues; how to re-skill and go back to work; volunteering and meeting new people and making friends.

Some exhibitors are offering 10 minute surgeries or consultations with their experts. To find out more and book an appointment, phone the National Careline in advance.

Mr Garnier said: “This is a fantastic event and I would encourage anyone who has a question or just wants to find out more to attend.

“Personalised financial advice is normally expensive, so this free roadshow will help many people get the most out of their pensions. I look forward to seeing residents there.”

The roadshow will take place at the Town Hall from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
