BOSSES at Dudley’s hospitals will be rolling up their sleeves next week and going out on the wards with volunteers to mark national Volunteers’ Week.

Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Paula Clark will be joined by other members of the board as they work with volunteers to make drinks for patients, take the library trolley to wards and carry out patient surveys.

Ms Clark said the initiative is to say thank you to more than 300 volunteers who regularly lend a hand at Russells Hall Hospital and at Corbett and Guest outpatient centres.

She said: “Our volunteers kindly give up their time for us and the work they do in every part of the Trust really is invaluable and very much appreciated.”

And she will be encouraging staff, patients and visitors to show their appreciation for the trust’s volunteers by taking a few minutes to fill out a Volunteers’ Week thank you card.

She added: “This is our opportunity to recognise the dedication of our volunteers and for the difference they make to patients.”

Thank you cards will be available at the main reception desks at Russells Hall Hospital, Corbett and Guest, until Friday June 5.

The trust is also currently recruiting for new volunteers.

Anyone over 16 can apply for the volunteer vacancies on offer which range from mealtime assistants and department hosts, to patient friends and wayfinders.
