PENSIONERS in Worcester are being invited to enjoy a cuppa and a chat with some new friends.
Contact the Elderly, a national charity working to combat loneliness and isolation, runs a monthly tea party where over-75s can spend a pleasant Sunday afternoon in the company of others.
The charity has spaces in its Worcester Group and is appealing for anyone who would like to join in to contact them.
The charity’s Midlands development officer Pamela Walker said each guest is collected from their home and taken to the host’s home, which varies every month.
“For older people who live alone Sundays can be particularly long and difficult,” she said.
“These tea parties give people a chance to get together with others, make new friends, eat delicious cakes and enjoy a cup of tea.
“The monthly events make a real difference to the lives of those in the group and we would encourage anyone interested in coming along, or those who know of people to whom it might appeal, to get in touch.”
