POLICE are investigating after a man died in Fort Royal Park in Worcester on Friday evening.

Police say the death is currently unexplained, and are urging anyone with information to come forward, but they are not regarding the incident as suspicious.

The man was discovered by a passer-by near to the Royal Albert Close entrance.

A spokesman for the ambulance services said a call was received at 8.41pm after the man was discovered not breathing.

A community first responder, a rapid response officer and an ambulance paramedic were called to the scene, but despite their deployment of lifesaving techniques, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Superintendent Kevin Purcell said: "Police attended and after consideration of all of the facts the death is being treated as unexplained.

"We do not think that there area any suspicious circumstances, next of kin have been informed and we await the results of a PM [post mortem] to understand the cause of death."
