A GP surgery in Ludlow is extending its opening times to 12 hours a day.

The change is being made at the GP surgery where doctors and nurses have found that early morning appointments are not popular but that patients like to be able to see a doctor in the evening.

Station Drive Surgery is now opening from 8am until 8pm five days a week.

Dr David Partridge said that the change would provide flexibility for patients and also give doctors more time to prepare prescriptions, review test results and liaise with hospitals and consultants.

In addition to face to face consultations there is also an option for patients to talk to doctors on the telephone. The surgery also offers ‘emergency’ appointments.

Patients can go online to make appointments, order repeat prescriptions and see medical records.

Station Drive Surgery says that it intends to expand its work as a training practice that is helping to address the national shortage of GPs.

The surgery has three partners as well as a number of other doctors and a GP Registrar who has recently joined the practice.

Station Drive is one of two surgeries in Ludlow town centre and improvements have recently been made to the surgery building and its facilities.
