A RESIDENT of St John’s Court Nursing Home in Bromsgrove was celebrating recently after reaching her milestone 100th birthday.

Edith Clarke celebrated her birthday on Sunday, August 2 with four generations of her family, enjoying entertainment from a singer, as well as a buffet and drinks in the conservatory .

She was born in Sparkhill in 1915, and married her husband George Clarke in 1937. The couple then moved to Selly Park where they had two daughters Christine and Janet.

Edith spent a lot of time working with the church, making more than 300 mince pies for them at Christmas The couple also enjoyed family holidays touring in their caravan and visiting a number of different countries.

A spokesman from St John’s said: “She was a very social lady and her door was always open for friends and family to drop in who just wanted to chat and needed some advice, and she still continues to do this at St John’s Court.”

Now Edith enjoys the social life at St John’s Court, chatting to staff and being entertained by her visitors.
