AN inaugural ladies' arm wrestling contest proved a hit with spectators spilling outside of Bourton Rovers Football Club where event organisers Mike Salf and Ted Gowin held their world debut tournament recently.

Mr Sarl said: "Tember Tables Ladies' Team Arm Wrestling is a world's first and we are awaiting contracts to be signed with a UK Boxing promoter and a You Tube partner, they will be forming a governing body and association to oversee the sports development.

"In a unique twist we will be launching the sport as 'ladies only'.

Several teams of three took part in the heats using a table that had been designed and created by the organisers. The trophies for the contest had been sponsored by Bourton News and Gifts and engraved by The Cotswold Engraver. Medals were also given to everyone who took part.

Lisa Sorley, Helen Dzendrowska and Lisa Lane of The Gin Slingers emerged the victors with Multiple Scoregasms the runner up and Team Bop Pop coming in at third after pipping Mad Mand's Trio in the third-place play-off.

Each of

Mad Mand's Trio, Team Ablizerate, Slaughters Ladies, The DIY'ers and The Blonde Bimbo's had all battled it out in the quarter finals.

The Tember Table will next be in action on Bourton Village Green on August Bank holiday Monday at Bourton Rovers Football Fete when the village sees its famous 'football in the river event'.
