PEOPLE from across Wyre Forest are being urged to tap their way into the record books and raise money for charity.

Zennor’s Dance and Musical Theatre Academy, based in Far Forest, will be taking part in an annual national tapathon on Sunday, November 15 for Children in Need.

Dancers from across the country will be taking part with the ambition of breaking the world record for the most number of people tapping the same dance at the same time.

The current record stands at 7,596 and last year’s attempt fell just short with 7,000 people taking part.

Principal Zennor McGuire said she will start holding two classes per week in the build-up to the tapathon – at Far Forest Village Hall on Mondays and St Wulstan’s Community Hall in Stourport on Saturdays starting from September 13.

She said: “All proceeds are for Children in Need and we need as many people as possible to break the world record.

“It doesn’t matter about a person’s ability – all ages and experience are welcome. Tap dancing is great for fitness, is a lot of fun and this event is for a great cause.”
