IT has been a busy Bank Holiday weekend for Wyre Forest’s Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews with all three district stations out on jobs.

At around 12.55pm on Saturday (April 30) crews from Kidderminster and Bewdley fire station were called out to a small fire in a kitchen at a home in Westminster Road.

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “The small fire involved a tea towel left on the cooker hob which was extinguished by fire service personnel.

“Ventilation was carried out at the property.”

The following day, at around 4am on Sunday (May 1) Kidderminster firefighters were called to a vehicle fire in Humphries Drive.

The crews were later called to a fire in a stairwell, in Bromsgrove Street, involving refuse and leaves, at around 2.10pm.

In the early hours of Monday (May 2) at around 1am, firefighters from Bewdley dealt with a road traffic crash involving one vehicle in Linden Avenue, Kidderminster.

The spokesman added: “The incident was attended by one appliance from Bewdley, and one appliance from Bromsgrove.

“The road traffic incident involved one vehicle leaving the carriageway and coming to rest in the porch way of the property.

“The vehicle was made safe and the area was cordoned off. The incident was left with West Mercia Police.”

Over an hour later, at around 2.10am crews from Stourport fire station attended a vehicle fire in Hartlebury.

The spokesman added that the incident involved one minibus that was well alight on the crews arrival.

In Bayton, near Kidderminster, at around 9pm, firefighters from Cleobury Mortimer were called to a chimney fire involving a wood-burning stove.
