HEREFORD Academy students will see their artwork transformed into mosaics and installed into a sensory garden.

Saxon Hall Community Centre has received funding to develop their sensory garden with the involvement of The Royal National College for the Blind and the Senad group.

The garden will be planned to evoke all the sensory elements of sight, touch, sound, smell and taste.

As part of the project Hereford Academy have ran an art competition for their pupils aged 11 and 12, with the winning pieces installed into the garden.

Topics for the competition included: the history of Hereford; what Hereford is famous for and Herefordshire’s natural environment.

The work was judged earlier this month by the Hereford's outgoing Mayor Charles Nicholls, artist Victoria Harrison and past student of the Hereford Academy Amelia Strong.

The winning pupils were Roksana Moron, Saskia Delvera, Bethany Mason and Denisa Sulimar.

The winning artwork will be transferred into mosaic during free workshops at Saxon Hall.

There will be a children’s mosaic workshops with living mosaics next Wednesday and Thursday between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

This will be followed by a free adult’s workshops with living mosaics on June 8 and 9 between 11.30am and 2.30pm.
