A 32-year-old man who suffered from depression, hanged himself at his parents' Worcester home, Worcestershire Coroner's Court heard.

The Stourport court heard on Thursday, (June 30), that Terence Spiers was found hanged by father Michael Spiers at the family's home in Tudor Way on May 28.

Worcestershire coroner Geraint Williams said Mr Spiers had been in an accident in 2011, which resulted him losing much of the use of the left side of his body and suffered from depression.

Mr Spier's family did not attend the inquest, but had given consent to the coroner for it to take place in their absence, while Mr Spiers' father had given a statement.

Mr Williams said he also had the post mortem report, and statements from Mr Spiers' GP and Detective Constable Matthew Harris, who investigated the death. The coroner said on this occasion he would not be reading them aloud at the inquest.

Mr Williams said: "As a coroner, suicide should never be presumed and must be, always, proved by evidence.

"Although it is appropriate that I draw such inferences to be appropriate - in this case there appears to be clear evidence."

The coroner recorded a verdict that Mr Speirs hanged himself.
