A DRUNK woman who stole from a Hereford supermarket left her bank card in the self-service machine.
Laura Jayne Oldham, 29, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing £6.80 worth of groceries from Tesco supermarket in Hereford.
Adrian Jones, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court on Thursday, said that at 10.30pm on February 18 Oldham went to Tesco supermarket and selected a number of items.
"She went to the self-service till and seems to be paying but the credit card payment had not gone through," said Mr Jones.
"Oldham takes the items and walks out. She was called back to the till but ignored the security staff."
On interview Oldham claimed that she had recently got her life back on track and that the incident was a moment of stupidity on her part.
"She has gone to Tesco and was very drunk," said Chris Read, mitigating.
"She put her bank card in the machine and walks off leaving the bank card in.
"She was called back but carries on walking away. It was a poor attempt of theft as she left her bank card with all her details behind at the store.
"It's a very simple matter and unfortunately her payment wasn't accepted."
Magistrates ordered Oldham to pay £6.80 compensation to Tesco and £30 costs.
