THE story behind a war memorial and the men commemorated on it will be told at an event held at the city's library.

Lest we Forget - a talk on the story of the All Saints Worcester war memorial, will be held at The Hive in Worcester on Wednesday, November 9, at 7.30pm.

Hosted by the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, the talk explores the minutes of a war memorial committee meeting for a Worcester parish, All Saints.

The minutes tell the fascinating story about how this community went about creating their memorial after the end of WWI.

Paul Hudson, outreach manager, said: "There is a story behind every war memorial, not just of the men whose names are recorded by the community who organised its creation. In the talk we'll look at this particular memorial through the archives left behind."

The talk will also look at some of the men whose names are recorded, included VC winner Frederick Dancox.

Tickets to the event cost £5 and can be booked in advance.
