COUNCIL bosses have confirmed that evening car parking in Wyre Forest will be free for the Christmas period.

There will be no charges on all authority car parks across the district after 4pm starting from Saturday, November 12 until Sunday, January 8 2017.

November 12 marks the start of the district’s Christmas light “switch on” ceremonies starting with Kidderminster. Stourport lights switch on is on Friday, November 25 and Bewdley’s the following day on Saturday, November 26.

Councillor Rebecca Vale, Cabinet member for operational services, said: “We are delighted to once again offer residents and shoppers in Wyre Forest free parking after 4pm.

“Hopefully it will encourage residents to shop locally and also attract shoppers in from outside the district.

“There’s a lot going on in our town centres over the festive season and I hope as many people as possible come along and join in.”

People need to collect their free tickets from machines and display them clearly in their vehicles when taking advantage of the free parking initiative.
