A NEW one-stop shop for reporting road safety concerns in Gloucestershire has been launched.

The Road Safety Community Hub was launched by Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership today (Friday).

It will be the main point of contact for residents to report any concerns they have about road safety in their local area.

The partnership is made up of Gloucestershire County Council, Gloucestershire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office and Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

Martin Surl, Police and Crime Commissioner, said: "During my first term in office it became clear that councillors, police, organisations, individuals had concerns over road safety but the work wasn’t going to one central place. At times it was being duplicated because it wasn’t co-ordinated.

"So it seemed common sense to me to create one central hub to bring together the expertise of the police, engineers and the road safety experts to provide a better, more efficient way of resolving the problems encountered in our towns and villages.

"I think it will bring a more consistent approach and because people will know where to go with their concerns, their ideas or for advice, it will make decision making more accountable."

The Hub is an addition to the existing services offered by the Road Safety Partnership.

Councillor Nigel Moor, cabinet member responsible for road safety at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "This new hub is quick and easy way for residents to share their concerns and ideas with the Road Safety Partnership.

"By working more closely with our partners and helping communities to influence changes, we will be able to improve road safety in Gloucestershire."
